SOMETHING THIS GOOD HAS TO BE SHARED

I couldn't say write it any better...

"SHOULD HUMOR MATTER TO CHRISTIANS?

Spoiler alert: the answer is yes.

Yes, humor should matter to Christians, but why?

Why should laughter and humor have a place within faith?

It hasn’t always. I’ve never heard an atheist say, “I’m not a Christian, but wow, do they have a great sense of humor!”

That said, there are a lot of funny Christians doing funny things right now and maybe the tide is turning.

But again, why?

Why does laughter matter in faith?

The answer, funny enough, is in the Bible.

In Psalm 126:2 it says:
Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.

Then.

Then.

Then.

That’s the most powerful word in that verse. The laughter was not just some frivolous thing. The laughter was not folly. It was was not jest.

It was a sign that the Lord has done great things for them.

In all our failing about to show people the goodness of God, I fear sometimes we’ve lost the simplest way.
To laugh.

To be overjoyed.

To be full of mirth.

Should humor matter to Christians?

It mattered to God, and that’s good enough for me."  -J. Acuff

LESSONS I'M LEARNING

"THE GRAY-HAIRED AND THE AGED ARE ON OUR SIDE..." (Job 15:10)

I celebrated another birthday this week and have spent some time reflecting on some of life's lessons.

Here goes:

1.  It's ok to ask for help--God never intended for us to do life alone.  Doing life together is always better.  (Galatians 6:2)

2The way up is to open up--Sharing your heart with those around you will only deepen relationships and allow opportunities for growth.  Shutting down will always bring you down.

3.  Be willing to confront and not just put on a front--Some of us (myself included) avoid confrontation at all costs.  This only contributes to frustration, disappointments and artificial harmony.  Instead, we should speak the truth in love, so that we can grow in our faith/life.  (Ephesians 4:15)

4.  Make submission to authority a priority--God is the Author of life and as the Author, He has written authority in our script.  Whether it's parents, teachers, bosses or governing officials, God expects us to submit to their authority since we are under His authority.  (Always remember God is the final authority--Acts 4:19)

5.  Express your appreciation and gratitude openly--We are too stingy with encouragement.  Seems like criticisms roll off the tongue far too easily...before I criticize :) let me simply encourage to build others up with our words and actions.  Also, don't just tell others you value them, show them.

6.  Always give thanks--A key to life is learning to give thanks.  Not just the big things, but more importantly the little things that so often times are taken for granted.  Happy people are always grateful people.  (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

7.  Don't forget your sunscreen...

Personal Update:
We are back home and getting into the swing of things.  It feels so good to be back home.  We are working towards returning to SHCC.  Still do not have an exact date, but we are confident God will make it clear as we have seen His hand through all of this.  Thanks for the prayers.
